Tucker is 5 months old!

Sunday, August 30, 2009

We've reached the 5 month mark. Tucker is now in a size 3 diaper (as of today). He's not crawling yet but he's very, very close. This so far is my favorite time with him. He is just a riot and keeps me laughing all day long. As cute as he was as a newborn, this time is a lot more fun. He reaches out for me, laughs (I'm trying to get that on video...keep your fingers crossed), and figures out something new everyday. He's currently learning how to use his walker. He can't go forward yet but he can go from side to side and backwards. Here's some new pictures of my little dude.

My sweet little boy

It's moments like these that make me think, "God I am so lucky." He looks so precious with his arm wrapped around his duck.

Baby Clothes

Tucker is just about 5 months old. Last week I was putting on his pajamas and it all of a sudden dawned on me that THEY DON'T FIT! Maybe the fact that I could barely close the snaps over his diaper should have tipped me off. Obviously I am not the brightest crayon in the box.

Now this shouldn't be a shocker to me since babies grow but he was wearing 6 months. The tag said 6 months should cover from 12.5 to 16.5 lbs. He was almost 17 lbs at his 4 month check up! This week he moved into 9 month clothes which goes up to 20.5 lbs. I pray that I can squeeze at least 2 more months out of those clothes.

So I decided to clean out Tucker's closet and put away his old clothes. I found tons of clothes that still have tags on them! How did this happen?!

Here are the lessons that I have learned when it comes to baby clothes:

1) The size tags are crap. They should only put on the weight of the baby and not the age because it does not apply. Or at least put up a warning sign for first time moms so they don't waste money buying clothes their kids will never wear.

2) If you have more than 5 outfits in each size up to 12 months then you have too many (this is me). In my case I could have probably survived with 2 since Tucker mostly just wears a diaper. It's hot in Arizona!

3) People who buy designer or expensive baby clothes are idiots. I have never done this myself because I am cheap, but needed to make this point because who spends a ton of money on clothes that their baby can only wear for a few months? You might as well just throw your money in a fire. It will last longer.

Here's Tucker in his new 9 month pajamas (clearance rack- $3.99). Yes, he is happy because he is not suffocating in clothes that don't fit.

New pictures of Tucker

I've been real slow on updating the blog but not much has been going on. Tucker isn't crawling yet but he's getting really close. Here are some recent pictures of him.

Sometimes I think I will go crazy

Monday, August 10, 2009

I wish Tucker could crawl. I know I will regret making that statement someday but I'm about to go crazy. Everyday we go thru the same cycle over and over and over again. About 20 (I really do mean 20) times a day Tucker ends up on his stomach and gets frustrated when he realizes he can't get anywhere. He cries, I flip him on his back, and we START ALL OVER AGAIN. Crawl Tucker, please just crawl!

Step One: Happy on his back

Step Two: Flips on to his stomach & plays with his toys (he's still happy)

Step 3: Realizes he can't crawl & gets mad
----------------
Step 4: See step 1 again (sigh)

Tucker & his bouncer

I have been trying to get a good video of Tucker in his bouncer for awhile. Everytime I try to videotape him he just sits there and stares at the camera. This time I put the camera on the table so he didn't know. I'm really glad I could outsmart a 4 month old.

Tucker got a walker

Tucker got a walker last week. He hasn't exactly figured it out yet. He can push the buttons and kind of push himself backwards. He's also just a little short for it but give him a month or so and he'll probably be walking all over the place. Good thing most of my house is tiled.

Tucker's Dr. appointment

Saturday, August 1, 2009

Tucker had his 4 month check up this week. I'm always on edge when I go to the pediatrician, mostly because I don't follow the "rules". At Tucker's 2 month checkup the doctor asked me what I was feeding him and I thought that I had been "caught" giving him cereal. All she actually wanted to know was what kind of formula.

I didn't lie to the doctor as much as usual so I consider this a good appointment. I did tell her that I was feeding him cereal and baby food. I did not tell her about the french fry he had at the fair, the popsicles that we share everyday (they are sugar free) and the juice he likes to drink.

The doctor is on a need-to-know basis. Tucker is perfect. Doctor's exact words. I know that if I were to tell them that he sucked on a french fry then they would come up with some test that they want to do just to "make sure" he's okay because fries are not a baby-approved food.

Tucker's a big boy now (really, he is). Here are his stats:

Weight- 16 lbs, 10 oz (82nd percentile)
Height- 26" (85th percentile)
Head- 16.25" (24th percentile)

Tucker & his crib

For some reason it always surprises me when I find Tucker in his crib like this.

My new haircut

I cut my hair when I was in California last weekend. It's my "mom" cut. I love it because it is so easy to deal with now and takes very little time to blowdry.

The In-laws

The in-laws stayed with us for a couple of days this week. Here are some pictures of Nate's dad & his wife Linda. For some reason every time I took a picture of Linda she looked away from the camera. Finally I gave up trying. Tucker does good with taking pictures. He got it when I told him to look at mom. I think he looks adorable in the picture at the bottom. The woman in the back is Linda's daughter. She lives in Mesa which isn't too far from us.
